Where I've Been

So, it's been quiet on this home front. Well, not really, but blog-wise it has been. I'm still here, but quite a bit has happened since my last post. Quite a bit.

See, back in May I was getting ready to have a hysterectomy. I was busy getting things in the house ready and getting the garden put in. On May 29th I had my surgery and everything went wonderful. I was home on the 31st, not nearly as sore I had anticipated. I walked when I could, took it easy when I should, and felt pretty darn good. Then things took a turn for the worst on June 4th. I ended up going to the ER by ambulance, sicker than a dog and in pain. After lots of pain and anti-nausea meds, an x-ray, ultra sound and CT scan, we found out what was wrong: a blockage. Long story short, after 4 days of having a tube from my nose into my belly and no food, I had to have another surgery to straighten everything out. Another 4 days in the hospital, and finally home.

I do not feel as well as I did after my 1st surgery, and after nearly a week of no sleep in the hospital, I am utterly exhausted. Right now I'm focusing on eating (which hasn't been easy because I have, like, no appetite) and catching up on my sleep.

So, that's what has been happening up here on out hill. It's going to be quiet for a while, as I'm not able to do much and really need to focus on getting better. I've been very blessed throughout this all by my church family, both my and my husband's families and my husband and children. My husband did a fantastic job of holding down the fort in my absence, working his job and taking up the slack at home. The garden has come in, not quite as much as I had hoped, but that's all right. And the chicks we got a month ago have grown well. The kiddos are out of school and have been patient with the fact that Mama's not able to do too much right now.

Hoping you are having a good start to your summer!
Blessings,
Kelly

  3. Thank you so very much for your prayers Kathy and Nikki. I'm slowly working on getting the house back to rights and hope to be baking tomorrow for the first time in over 2 weeks!
